I am a visual artist formally trained as an architect. My background in architecture and the questions which concern me provide the conceptual underpinning of my studio practice. The locus of both professions is best defined by an investigation into spatial distortion and compression of function. In my studio practice, this can manifest in any form. Additionally, both art and architecture are entangled by the desire to define the bounds between discipline and surrender. I find this pursuit has material as well as spiritual dimensions and has been a constant “companion” throughout both careers.

I mix my own colors and make the media I use from scratch matching them to the shape and nature of my chosen subject. While it is not a conscious intent to extend the creative practice to include the actual manufacture of the material used, it’s logical that I would be interested in their genesis and my work integrates such knowledge.
